Tawhai (pronounced "TAW-fai") Falls is a tiny 5m waterfall situated in the brown tussock grasslands and beech forest at the lower elevations of Tongariro National Park.

This secret refuge consisted of a cave behind a west-facing waterfall overlooking a pool.
During the War of the Ring, Faramir had his base of operations there, and Frodo Baggins and his companion Samwise Gamgee were taken there by his company.
